Various Categories Of Auditorium Seating

By Jerri Perry

The chosen chair in a theater would determine your enjoyment in such concerts as well as the amount you would spend on the entry ticket. The chair arrangements in various theaters would vary mostly depending on the shape and size of such stages. Bigger arenas would have better seating patterns as compared to small theaters as the pattern in small rooms would be cluttered. However, regardless of the arena size or shape, you should always bear in mind that various theaters would have different auditorium seating charts.

Orchestra is the best level of auditorium seating where the proscenium arch is featured. Seats within the orchestra are grouped by nearness and visual axis. Prime orchestra seats are the best seats placed at the front area, followed by side orchestra seats and the rear seats locks the arrangement at the back of the orchestra level. These can be fold-up chairs, fixed seats or even upholstered chairs.

After the orchestra are the box seats. Box chairs are mainly separated using walls or curtains. The chairs on this level are mainly placed on an elevated platform to ensure the people within such areas can see the stage completely. Box seats are cheaper when compared to the ones in the orchestra.

Mezzanine seats follow the box seats at the upper area of the orchestra. The divisions in the mezzanine vary from the front seats to the left and right chairs. When sitting on the front area, you can completely view the arena as compared to when sitting in the left or right chairs. The problem with these chairs is that, even when sitting at the front area you would not get full exposure to the arena.

Gallery seats are placed at the top and last division within a theater. The audience in the gallery seats is not exposed to complete view of the stage though their tickets are offered at lower prices. When buying the gallery chairs, it is always essential to remember that the audience here is barely exposed to a partial view of the stage.

The seat pattern in thrust arenas is mostly a three side fashion. In order to increase visibility, the chairs here would be raked collectively. When buying tickets in thrust theaters, you should sit on upholstered seat, fold-up or even fixed seats.

The seat designing in circular arenas have a great variance when compared to other stages. The seats on a circular pattern would be encircled and the podium raised to ensure people can see properly. The choice of chairs here depends on their designer and the arena owner.

Unless you find yourself seated on the auditorium seating watching a play, you may never have the assurance that you have chosen the right seat. Consequently, it is always essential to consider buying the right seat ticket which would allow you to see everything that would go on the stage. You need to research widely to know how the seats in the potential arena are and which is offers the best value to the viewers.
