Turn Trash To Treasure With Garden Junk Crafts

By Linda Ruiz

Do you like to express your creative side? Would you like to be able to start on fun new projects that will not cost a fortune? If you have just answered yes, you will love garden junk crafts.

If this is something that you haven't heard of it is pretty simple. You take items that you would normally throw away and transform them into decorative or useful pieces for the garden. These projects can be a lot of fun and you can get the whole family involved.

Before you can being on your first crafting project you will have to get hold of items that you can use. So look out for anything that can be left outside without deteriorating and keep them somewhere safe. Some of the most popular things to use include - cutlery, old kettles, tin baths, plates and so on.

One of the easiest projects to make a start on is to create planters. These will be used all year round and they look really attractive. Or how about using broken pieces of crockery to make your own mosaics?

If you want to start doing projects like this you should get yourself a kit together first. On your list have glue, paints, the items you have collected (you will add to this as time goes on) and a ball of string. These are a good starting point for creating crafts and they are needed for the easier tasks.

If you want to make an unusual trellis for your climbing plants an old iron headboard is perfect. You can paint it in whatever colour you like and stand it into the earth where you have planted your climbing plants or vegetables. Or you can stand it against the wall where it will have more support.

You might want to bring an artistic touch to your outdoor space. If this is the case why not create your own sculptures? Let your imagination run wild and make hanging decorations from strips of metal that are stuck together. Or why not take old glass jars and hang them from a broom handle, insert candles and you have a string of nightlights.

Old washing tubs make great planters or water features with a little bit of know how. Or how about using bowling balls as decorative items? You can paint these in various colours or even use your broken crockery to add mosaic patterns on them.

As you can see there are so many different things you can do if you want to get crafty. Making items for your garden is a lot of fun and you will get many pleasurable hours from it. You will also be acting in an environmentally friendly way by turning trash into something useful and not just throwing it away.
