Exploring A Concert Hall Austin Texas

By Raymond Bennett

When it comes to seeing a show in the capitol of Texas, there are a number of choices. Whether ballet, a band, magician, musician, play, symphony or other performance, Bass Hall, a concert Hall Austin Texas has it all.

As the city has seen large growth over the last several decades, so too the live music community. While some of this change has been devastating, several long-term residents are now working to bring the once lively live music scene back to life. As such, residents and tourists alike might once again be able to see live music in all areas of the city.

Whether poet or musician, many venues have been replaced by million dollar condominium complexes and expensive homes. City managers came under fire in 2013 for developing building codes which effected a number of existing homes. As such, many of those living in the low income district lost homes due to building code violations.

Another problem with the revitalization of the city which many denounced in the early days is the rise in cost of concert, festival and show tickets. In fact, some festivals that once required a can good or $5 donation, now charges $30/ticket with none going to charity. Whereas, most concert tickets start at upwards of $85-100 and show tickets around $30 and up.

Whether due to the new landscape of the city or scalping, most long time Austin residents can not afford the high cost of the venues. As such, it is often those of a much higher income bracket whom are now seen at these events. Whereas, a number of those whose homes were taken due to building code violations are now homeless.

In some cases, fans have been able to find ways to afford these higher priced tickets. Although, as prices rise each year when it comes to concerts, festivals and shows, it gets harder to afford various events with each passing year. While there has been some effort to head off scalpers, it can often be a difficult task.

While Austin City Limits Live, the Continental and the Saxon are popular clubs in the city, most of the large concert halls reside either North, South, East or West of the city along main thoroughfares. As such, while many have sound acoustics, many outdoor venues have to work around noise from airplanes, traffic and other sources.

Taking a tour of a concert or music hall can be a fun experience, attending a show even more. When it comes to festivals, Austin host the annual South By Southwest Festival and Austin City Limits Live, although passes to both are extremely expensive. In fact, starting prices for film only passes run over a grand for South By Southwest while a three day pass to the ACL fest often costs approximately $275 to $300.
