Guide In Choosing Magazines For Tween Girls

By Young Lindsay

When it comes to reading materials, it is important to know what you can get from it. Aside from the entertainment, you should also get lessons and values that are appropriate for the person and would cater enough to an extent. Books have been the primary source of education for everyone, which branched out as technology and media evolved.

Magazines have been around since the 1600s in Germany and the first ones in America was published during the mid 1700s. But media today has been dissecting and categorizing magazines as much as possible into age groups, demographics, locality, etc. Magazines for tween girls who are around eight to fourteen years old are now being published.

Because of the views of the society and its problems with various issues, a lot of teenagers are having problems with their own perspectives as well. That is why acquiring the best reading materials could be crucial for their growth. Parents should be able to sort out the good and bad ones from each other so that they can provide their kids with appropriate information in a timely basis.

This type of magazine can also be further categorized into different topics or interests for teenagers. This makes them have more choices in their reading materials. These can be related to education, general interests, sports, and some are gender specific. These can be bought at any retail stores and even online for either one time purchase or subscription.

Knowing which ones to choose and subscribe would be a bit tricky, since you would need to go over each one of them. As a parent, you can either read one by one and see what is well rounded enough and can provide enough information that is suited for your kids. As a teenager, you would want stuff that would actually interest you all in one magazine.

It would be best to get recommendations from coworkers, friends, or relatives, and also read reviews, too. This gives you enough reason to decide on one. Being a parent, you need to know your issues and the issues of the kids, too, so you can have this to base your choice in picking a magazine.

Before deciding on a serialization, you have to test it out if your kids like it. Of course, part of it is evaluating it for yourself, next would be getting feedback from your kids. You can then decide after this. Try to be careful since some magazines are too closely dissected that there are some that only targets high schoolers or only middle schoolers.

Of course, like any other magazines, these ones have drawbacks as well. They can provide a twisted and toxic perspective especially since tweens are susceptible to marketing strategies by publishers. It can be harmful for their health due to the imposed body image they are giving out. Give them other things to read that would balance it out and would actually give them a better and well rounded perspective of life.

All in all, the benefit for this is reading in itself. These ages are the most susceptible to information and experimentation. Guiding them with the right kind of materials would be the determining factor for their growth and upbringing.
