What You Should Know About Belize Connection And The Country

By Gwen Lowe

Belize, located in Central America, has been a British crown colony since the 1800s. Since that time, the country has gradually moved toward independence, from being a representative government of England to a self-governing nation with its own ministerial system, and full independence in 1981. Today, the country is popular with tourists and retiree immigrants. The website Belize connection aims to share as much information as possible for businesses and visitors.

English is the principle language in the country, due to its British heritage. It is the only English speaking country in Central America. However, there are other languages in the culture as well, including Spanish, German and Kriol, with many different dialects throughout the country.

The country produces many industrial minerals. Sugar is one of their main crops and accounts for half of all exports from the country. The banana industry is also significant, since it is the largest employer in the country.

The Belize dollar is currently linked to the U. S. Dollar at a rate of 2 to 1, which makes the currency exchange very easy for visitors from the U. S. It also makes it easy for tourists to see how much things cost when they go shopping. Many hotels and tours list their prices in U. S. Dollars, while the restaurants and shops tend to list their goods in the local currency. Nearly all businesses accept the USD currency and travelers checks if a passport number or license number is written on the back of the check. Teller machines are also available across the country.

The country was home to the Mayans many years ago. The Mayan lived there about three thousand years ago in the area known as the Yucatan Peninsula. They Mayans also lived in southeastern Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras. Many of them lived in small farming villages where they grew crops like corn, beans and peppers. A variety of languages developed during this period. Despite the European influence, the evidence of this culture still exists today.

The country also has a hurricane season, lasting from the beginning of June until the end of November, although statistically it does not get many major hurricanes or direct hits. There are also occurrences of severe tropical weather, causing high winds and heavy rain. However, the country does have safety measures in places for dealing with impending storms. Evacuation procedures help to save lives and minimize damage when there are hurricanes or tropical storms approaching.

Terese Fegan, who is a native of Belize, created the website on her own. She explains that she got the idea when she was searching for something constructive to do while using various social media sites. The website was developed when more of her friends and associates began reaching out to her in social media.

As more and more friends were added to her social media websites, she started to group them together into various categories. She had many businesses from her home country wanting to connect with her, so she began to organize her lists and place them into fan pages, and this is how her site started. She gradually developed the page and realized that she was actually allowing these businesses to have free advertising on her site. She then started to network and develop ways to improve her business model.
