Tips In Choosing Product Development Firms

By Ericka Marsh

When you are assigned to launch new products for your company or even develop a new technology, then you know that you need to work with the right people for this. You need to choose which product development firms you will be working with. The choice you make on this matter can be really critical to your success.

Choosing the right one is never easy. You have hundreds of companies to choose from and you have to choose only one of them. You have to be as meticulous as you can in choosing since this is for the sake of success. To make the selection easier and improve the chances of choosing the best company, here are some common things to note.

First, think about chemistry. A good chemistry allows from the smooth progress of the entire project. You have to make sure that you select a good team that you can get along with. Of course, it should be a team that can weather the problems and differences of opinions that surface along the course of the whole project.

Portfolio. Just because you are being shown some excellent case studies and beautiful concepts, that does not mean that this firm is a good one for you. If these concepts are not commercialized successfully, then they have no business showing those concepts to you. You have to work with a firm that has tangible achievement to show clients.

The project team is another matter to take note of. It is important that you look for a project team that has experienced and skilled staff members. After all, the experienced and skilled staff members are the ones capable of delivering successful results to you. You have to pick the best project team possible then.

Turnover rate. The turnover rate of a company is affected by factors such as the employees looking for growth potential, mentoring opportunities, as well as creative challenges. Such factors are common in the field of designing and the likes. A company with high turnover rate should be normal. It would be a different matter with a company having extraordinarily high turnover rate though.

References. Ask the company to give you a list of references. However, understand that this list is mostly made up of clients that are satisfied with the work provided by the firm. If you want to hear an unbiased review, then you better dig deeper. Get to know other people who can give you a review about the firm.

Repeat clients. It is also a given for you to know how much of the percentage of the firm's clients are repeat customers. It would be more reliable to hire a company that has multiple projects with a single client. With just that, you can guarantee that this is a firm that can offer quality services to clients.

The innovation offered by the company should be stellar. Of course, that does not mean that the innovation should only remain as a concept. The innovation must also make it through production. If you can find a company that can provide the innovation you need, from the concept to manufacturability, then that company is good enough for you.
